The sflan project is fantastic and exiting. I hope to contribute soon.

I am located at Parnassus and Clayton. I can physically see sflan8. On my XP laptop I get low signal strength (with bargraph at 2 out of 5) using a Linksys WUSB11 adapter. The wireless connection shows the IP address but it is not your listed 209.237.240.120, the Subnet Mask is also shown.

I am a novice with networking. How do I set up a connection to the Internet? I have tried the XP "Network Setup Wizard" and "New Connection Wizard" without success.

If everything is working (and it sounds like dhcp is working), then you should be able to associate with that wireless node like you would any wireless access point. I think you select which network ssid in your task tray.

for basic networking, pls a user near you.

I'm still having problems connecting to sflan8. I'm not sure if it's my setup or the dhcp server. I was wondering if there are people connected to sflan8 via dhcp?

I should clarify a little. I'm able to connect to the access point but I'm unable to receive an IP. I have tried 2 wireless network adapters with the same result. I suspect there might be a problem with the dhcp server.
